Finlay Napier

Guitar and Ukulele

Findlay Napier, originally from Grantown on Spey, was brought up in a Musical household. Accepted as one of the first ten students on the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's BA Scottish Music program he relocated to Glasgow in 1996.

After graduating from the RCS in 1999 he joined Traditional Music quartet Back of the Moon which featured his future wife, Gillian Frame on Fiddle and his brother Hamish Napier on Piano. Back of the Moon toured the UK, Europe and North America releasing three critically acclaimed albums finishing their seven year run in November 2006 with their final show at The Kennedy Centre in Washington DC.

While recording Back of the Moon's second album Findlay began writing songs with Watercolour Music engineer/producer Nick Turner and the pair have subsequently released two albums under the piratical pseudonym Queen Anne's Revenge.

Findlay's current project, Findlay Napier & The Bar Room, has released an EP and two albums. Featured at many festivals over the last few years the band continues to gain fans and grow a reputation as a energetic and engaging live act.

Alongside GFW Findlay also lectures at the RCS, teaches at many Feisan and is employed by a number of community projects to teach songwriting, groupwork and guitar.
